The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) proudly brings you the MCMC Datathon 2024 - designed to inspire innovation through Big Data, Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), with special focus on improving quality of broadband experience, ensuring a safer online environment and boosting e-commerce growth through smarter courier solutions. Open to all MCMC staff, courier companies and tertiary students, participants will work in teams to address real-world challenges, from optimizing courier delivery, enhancing broadband quality to combating cybercrime to ensure secure, trustworthy digital spaces for everyone.

Apply as a Team of 3-4 pax by filling up this form. We have 3 different tracks; Courier Companies, MCMC Staff & Tertiary Students. Selection will be done on a weekly basis so apply now!

Virtual Training

All selected teams are required to participate in a series of Virtual Training sessions from 7 - 10 October, 9.00am - 12.00pm to cover topics related to Data Science, Python, ML & AI.

Virtual Datathon

The Virtual Datathon will begin on Monday, 14 October at 9.00am with the full details to kickoff your projects, ending with the selection of Top 15 Finalists on Tuesday, 15 October at 5.00pm.


14 & 15 Oct 2024

Physical Datathon & Finals

The Top 15 teams will build their projects and present to our panel of Grand Judges on-stage at a venue in Kuala Lumpur, from 2-4 November. This is a fully physical event.

Fill up the official application form with your full team details and introduction. You need to assemble your own team of 3-4 members, including at least 1 data specialist with coding abilities. Only the shortlisted teams will be invited to join the Datathon.

 

You can, as long as you have at least 1 data specialist with coding abilities in your team so that your team can build or generate something meaningful with the provided data. A team with diverse capabilities will have a great advantage in a Datathon.

 

No, this datathon is strictly open to only Malaysian citizens, 18 years old and above. We have 3 tracks for Courier Companies, MCMC Staff and Tertiary Students.

 

The first stage will be a Virtual Datathon. The 2nd stage will be a Physical Datathon where the Top 15 Teams will be REQUIRED to attend from 2-4 Nov 2024 in Kuala Lumpur. All team members need to participate.

 

Yes! We will provide full meals, freeflow snacks & beverages to ensure you can complete your projects on time. All Top 15 Team members will also be provided with 3D2N hotel accommodation at the venue.

 

None! This Datathon is completely FREE for all selected participants. The Organisers will take care of everything to ensure you have a great Datathon experience.

 

We want highly innovative and practical solutions, with originality and good design. We will also evaluate the business value of the idea and technical ability of the team members to execute the project. Of course, they need to be highly relevant to the selected problem statements.
