MetLife Data Privacy Notice and Consent to Use Candidate Data for MetLife Hack4Job 2022 Coding Challenge – Malaysia (“Hackathon”)
Your privacy is important to MetLife. This notice (the “Notice”) aims at informing you of how MetLife will use the information you submit (“Candidate Data”) when applying for a job at MetLife through the Hackathon. This Notice covers any Candidate Data you submit to MetLife, such as: name, address, email address, telephone number, or other contact information; information contained in your CV or cover letter, such as previous work experience, education, or other information you provide for our consideration; type of employment sought, desired salary, willingness to relocate, or other job preferences, and names and contact information for referrals.
Only select employees of MetLife - such as your potential future manager(s), employees of the Human Resources Department, employees organizing the Hackathon and select employees of IT - and select employees of our external service providers who support MetLife with the administration of recruitment applications and/or the Hackathon, have access to your Candidate Data. MetLife is a global organization, with businesses, legal entities, IT systems, management structures and processes that cross borders. Candidate Data may be shared with other MetLife entities in other jurisdictions, for employment consideration purposes. In addition, Candidate Data may be used to comply with MetLife’s legal, regulatory and corporate governance requirements. If a candidate is hired, Candidate Data may be used in connection with his/her employment consistent with MetLife’s employment data protection policies.
MetLife may transfer Candidate Data to external third-party providers performing certain services for MetLife. Such third-party providers may be located in other jurisdictions and/or process Candidate Data from locations around the world. Third-party providers have access to Candidate Data solely for the purposes of performing the services specified in the applicable service contract, and MetLife requires the providers to undertake security measures consistent with the protections specified in this Notice. In addition, MetLife may be required to disclose certain Candidate Data to other third parties (1) as required by law or (2) to protect MetLife’s legal rights to the extent authorized or permitted by law.
MetLife entities will handle Candidate Data in accordance with Malaysian law Where Malaysian law provides less protection than that established by this Notice, MetLife will handle your Candidate Data in accordance with the present Notice.
Providing your Candidate Data is voluntary. The Candidate Data you provide will be used to promote, conduct and administer the Hackathon, issue updates on your status during the Hackathon and issue promotional materials from time to time. The Candidate Data will also be used to assess your application for employment at MetLife (or any affiliated MetLife entity such as AmMetLife Insurance Berhad), to verify your information and conduct reference checks, and to communicate with you and inform you of further career opportunities. By submitting your application for the Hackathon, you are granting your consent to the processing of that information (including to the transfer of your Candidate Data worldwide) in accordance with this Notice. You have reviewed this Notice and agree that MetLife may process your Candidate Data in accordance with this Notice; and Your Candidate Data may be transferred and processed worldwide, including countries that may not be deemed to provide the same level of data protection as your home country, for the purposes and in the manner specified in this Notice.
MetLife reserves the right to modify this Notice by posting changes to relevant MetLife websites. If you submit additional Candidate Data or request to be considered for a MetLife position following the effective date of a modified Notice, your Candidate Data will be handled in accordance with the Notice in effect at that time.
