Are you ready to take the world of digital payments by storm and make a real impact? We're inviting the best and brightest minds with expertise in Digital Identity, Financial Crime, Data Analytics, Information Security & Quality Assurance to join us for the PayHack 2023 24-Hour Hackathon on 27 & 28 May 2023 at the Asia School of Business in Kuala Lumpur, and develop new and innovative solutions to accelerate the digital payments ecosystem in Malaysia.

Your Challenges

Here are the 4 challenges we have prepared for this hackathon. You can pick any 1 challenge to solve, or incorporate more than one if it's relevant to your project. Please take note that you don't have to solve all 4 challenges provided below.

 

Challenge 1: Security & Fraud

How might we address pressing security issues related to e-KYC, secured authentication, identity theft, payment fraud, or e-payment security in general?

Challenge 2: Efficiency

How might we optimise or improve performance of digital payments via increased automation, technological improvements or better use of human capital?

Challenge 3: Sustainability

How might we directly contribute towards environmental conservation or any of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 through the digital payments space?

Challenge 4: Financial Inclusion

How might we expand access to e-payment services in underserved areas or communities, or create solutions to validate such areas or communities are served?

How It Works

 

Application

Apply as a Team (3-5 pax) by filling up the application form. All participants, both professionals and students will compete in the same hackathon track.


Due 22 May 2023

Pre-Hack Briefing

Only selected teams will be invited to join the physical event. There will be a virtual Pre-Hack Briefing on 24 May for all selected teams to prepare for the main event.


24 May 2023

24-Hour Hackathon

The Physical Hackathon will begin on Saturday at 8.00am with the full details to kickoff your projects, ending with the Grand Finals demo day on Sunday.

You need to fill up the official application form with your full team details and introduction. Only selected teams will be invited to join.

 

Yes, you need a team. You can have a minimum of 3 or maximum 5 members in a team, including at least 1 coder.

 

You can, as a Team, but make sure you have at least 1 coder in your team so that you can build and submit a working prototype.

 

Yes, as long as you have a valid Malaysian PR or Work/Student visa, and you are currently based in the country.

 

No, PayNet employees and affiliates are not eligible to participate in this Hackathon.

 

Yes, the entire team is REQUIRED to attend the physical event in Kuala Lumpur on 27 - 28 May 2023.

 

This is a 24-Hour Hackathon so teams will be expected to work at the venue overnight. Bring your own sleeping bags or pop-up tents if you need to take power-naps! We will provide a suitable space.

 

Yes! We will provide full meals, freeflow snacks and beverages to ensure you can complete your projects within 24-hours!

 

You are required to build an application to solve one of the 4 Challenges above. You will need to demo a working prototype during the hackathon.

 

None! This programme is completely free for all eligible Participants. The organisers will take care of everything to ensure you have a great hackathon experience.

 

The Physical Hackathon begins on Saturday, 27 May at 8.00am and ends on Sunday, 28 May. The Grand Finals demo day will be on Sunday.

 

We want to see highly innovative solutions, practicality, functionality, good design and also evaluate the technical ability of the team members to execute the projects.

 

The teams will be required to submit your projects via cloud storage, and demo your projects live to our panel of judges at the venue.
